Future career aspirations: My hope is to go into cultural resource management work. I love the field of archaeology, but am also mindful of the ethics behind it and the impacts that it can have on communities as well as the environment. I would like to pursue a career that caters to these interests and work to create better relations between different interest groups. Ideally, I think working in a museum during the off season and participating in field seasons would fit me very well. During the off months, I would be a place where I can help to educate others about artifacts and open up conversations about other people's perspectives. I have been in talks with various museum curators and how they try to accomplish this in their own work. Additionally, I have talked to archaeologists who have combined field and museum careers in this way and have been quite successful.
Top 3 goals for your time abroad: 1. Apply the methods and theories that I have studied and put them into practice.
2. Learn about cultures outside of my own and their perspectives on archaeology.
3. Understand the impacts that this archaeological site has on the local environment and community.
