Future Career Goals:

This summer, I will be graduating and am so excited for what’s to come. Never did I imagine that I would be getting a Bachelor’s degree at university–I was such a rebel in my youth even though I was raised in academic households, I refused to even consider a degree. I was always so certain of my artistry, and that I did not need to be defined by a piece of paper. Now, with some maturity, I am so grateful the gift school has bestowed upon me. I have noticed many people assume people of color are first time college educated, even AI assumed this, and I am lucky that I come from a family that offers a legacy. Through my ancestry, I bring the gift of storytelling, which I have shared through my writing and plan to continue to grow.

To be at this milestone of graduating university and having a teenager who is about to start a new chapter in her life feels beyond surreal. In my future, I see many many published novels, public speaking engagements, philanthropy, and a home nestled in the woods with a beautiful garden. I would love to continue to refine my voice writing for publications and continue to encourage the field of anthropology to develop for the greater support of humanity. With my writing, I seek to foster spaces of reflection, resilience, and belonging. My interests are at the intersection of storytelling, culture, health, and who has access to systems.

Top 3 Goals for your time abroad:

During my time abroad, my goal is to wrap up a book I have been working on for the past decade for publishing. Additionally, I will focus on improving my Italian and broadening my perspectives on the possibilities for my future as an almost empty-nester!
