Future Career Goals:

My long-term goal is to advocate for immigration reform and help make the process of obtaining a green card more accessible. This is because it’s been a challenge for my family for the past 12 years. My dad has been trying to obtain a green card but despite his efforts, he still hasn’t been approved yet. He left his home country when he was a teenager so that his family could live a better life and wouldn’t have to struggle as much as he did. However, he hasn’t been able to return home or see his parents in over 25 years. Seeing how tirelessly my dad worked to obtain a green card has made me realize how complex and frustrating the immigration process can be for so many families which is why I want to change that. I hope to develop the expertise needed to analyze systemic challenges, propose effective solutions, and contribute to initiatives that make the immigration process more efficient which then can help individuals and families who, like my father, have waited years.

Top 3 Goals for your time abroad:

1. Gaining experience in the global business field. Always have been interested in what it’s like working in a different country.

2. A goal of mine this year is to step out of my comfort zone and take on every opportunity that comes my way. In May, I was reflecting on my time at college. I realized I didn’t take advantage of the chances to learn new skills and connect with people outside of the classroom. I want to challenge myself by taking advantage of every opportunity to grow personally and professionally while studying in Sydney.

3. Lastly, embracing new cultures. I would say I am a very curious individual, I have always wanted to see what it was like to live in a different country and I am so grateful to be able to get the opportunity to do so. I want to take advantage of this chance and make the most of it.
