Future career aspirations: My career goal is to be a unique global leader that approaches international problem solving at the intersection of business, nonprofit and diplomacy. My mission is centered around people and the environment, more specifically, human rights & autonomy and climate & sustainability. I plan to deviate from conventional donation funded NGOs by designing a social enterprise that will improve the resilience, sustainability, and prosperity of indigenous Khmer Krom livelihoods in Kampuchea Krom in conjunction with my advocacy for achieving justice and self-determination for my people. My goal is to not only lift people out of poverty but provide them with the educational and economic resources and infrastructure to thrive. More info about my other career goals of being a vegan restaurant chain owner and actor can be found on my website at www.priscillakimong.com/about
Top 3 goals for your time abroad: 1. Conduct an independent research project on issues faced by the indigenous Khmer-Krom people in the Mekong Delta to write a thesis which will supplement my ongoing advocacy work for Khmer-Krom.
2. Achieve professional working proficiency in Vietnamese to be able to communicate effectively with local communities, businesses, NGOs, and government.
3. Build lasting relationships within the Khmer-Krom community and establish a professional network with people and organizations in Vietnam that I can learn from and collaborate with throughout my career.
