Coming to TV screen near you, my name is Leyanis Diaz, also known as “Ley,” and I am a senior at Florida International University (FIU). Hailing from la isla de Cuba or the island of Cuba, I am a 22-year-old broadcast media major, aspiring to be the next Oprah Winfrey for my loves of journalism and philanthropy. My life motto is be the change you wish to see in the world, which I currently live out teaching young girls to become confident and ambitious young women. I’m a sister of Phi Mu Fraternity, Vice President of Communication for the Student Programming Council at the Biscayne Bay Campus and I’m also a member of the FIU Honors College. This summer, I’ll be traveling to Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand. This will be my second time out of the country and I am ecstatic! Being able to study abroad and do something that I love while there makes it all worthwhile. I can’t wait to make a difference in the lives of others by teaching students at a local school. This will be a summer to remember! I can’t wait to experience the culture, the people, the food, etc., and get it all on camera. I’ll be documenting and keeping you updated every step of the way.
