WASHINGTON, D.C., February 22, 2021 โ€“ Gateway International Group has committed $25,000 to the Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) to fund the Gateway International Group Education Abroad scholarship. This new FEA Named Scholarship will increase funding each year for multiple students traditionally underrepresented in education abroad, with scholarships ranging from $1,250 to $10,000 through 2025.

โ€œIt has been an honor collaborating with FEA to realize the Gateway International Group Education Abroad Scholarship,โ€ said Gateway International Group Founder and Managing Director, FEA Trustee Emeritus, and Kentucky native Anthony C. Ogden, Ph.D. โ€œKnowing first-hand FEAโ€™s stature as both trusted financial steward and international education impact partner, I am confident that our funds are in the right hands and excited by the horizons we will widen for deserving students, particularly those representing the first in their families to pursue higher education.โ€

Launched in 2020, Gateway International Group supports institutions and organizations around the world with leveraging strategic new directions and emerging opportunities in international education. Preference for the Gateway International Group Education Abroad Scholarship will go to FEA Scholarship applicants who are first-generation college students, or those whose home or college of study are in Kentucky.

โ€œGateway International Group advances international learning and engagement daily, helping embolden learners with nuanced understandings of the international dimensions of their fields of study and the intercultural competency needed to live and work successfully in a globally interconnected world,โ€ said FEA Board Chair Mark Lenhart. โ€œThe Gateway International Group โ€“ Education Abroad Scholarship will have a lasting impact on the lives of the scholarship recipients, and we are grateful to the Gateway International Group for trusting FEA to advance their vision and manage this new scholarship.โ€

A total of 744 scholars, including students of color, first-generation college, and community college students, have benefited from over $2.2 million in scholarships granted since FEAโ€™s inception in 2010. FEA awards many different types of scholarships, including Named Scholarships that are funded by specific donors, Designated Scholarships that are destination- or demographic-specific, and Access Partner Scholarships.

โ€œFEA is honored and humbled by this generous gift from the Gateway International Group,โ€ said FEA Executive Director Angela Schaffer. โ€œThis gift is a testament of FEA Trustee Emeritus Dr. Anthony Ogdenโ€™s dedication to the work we do in making the international education landscape more equitable and accessible.โ€
