Future Career Goals:

In the future, my goal is to be an immigration attorney. After college, I plan to research the experiences of migrant children in Central America, perhaps on a Fulbright Scholarship. Upon returning to the U.S., I will begin law school. I see myself volunteering with Kids in Need of Defense to assist migrant children in their legal proceedings and interning with the Committee for Refugees & Immigrants to work with immigrant communities to better understand their needs. Five years after graduation, I hope to be part of a law firm representing migrant children. I will collaborate with the network I have developed through these opportunities and capitalize on my first-hand experience with communities abroad to inform the policies I will address as an immigration attorney.

Top 3 Goals for your time abroad:

My goals for studying abroad are based on cultural immersion, academic enrichment, and personal growth. One of my main goals is to develop a deep understanding and appreciation of the Spanish and Irish cultures. I hope to do this by trying new foods, visiting different locations, and embracing the customs and traditions. This will enhance my cultural competence, and broaden my worldview. In addition, I hope to leverage my program resources to develop a comprehensive research paper on the experiences of immigrant and minority groups in Spain and Ireland. Through the internship opportunity, I also hope to apply my theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting. Lastly, my aim is to cultivate personal growth by stepping out of my comfort zone. I expect to do this by participating in new activities and meeting new people.
