Trip to Budapest

A 3 days trip to Budapest with other international students from my school was a fantastic experience. We visited the parliament building, a fortress with a beautiful church, and the museum. I saw a few similar cultures between Hungary and Austra since they used to be one Empire, such as political systems and foods throughout the trip.

My highlight from this trip was visiting the House of Terror Museum, where I had an opportunity to have an insight into the country’s dark era.

The museum contains exhibits related to the fascist and communist regimes in 20th-century Hungary. It is also a memorial to the victims of these regimes, including those detained, interrogated, tortured, or killed in the building. It was hard to intake the information throughout the tour since there were countless figures and scripts of how the people of Hungary were treated inhumanely, including the religious leaders under the different regimes. On the other side, I also learned how citizens showed perseverance and endurance during that period, primarily through their faith in God. Religion always has been a part of the country’s history.
