As I was walking into work today, my boss sarcastically asked me if I was enjoying the lovely weather (it was a typical rainy London day.) I said genuinely that I have to embrace it before I leave. I’m now under a month from my end date, and it’s bittersweet. I will miss living in London, even the weather. Here’s a list, in no particular order, of characteristics I wish I didn’t have to let go of:
- Weather – Just to elaborate, I’m not much of a sun person (which is ironic because I attend university in the sunny state of Florida.) I enjoy the cold, overcast skies; they give the city so much personality.
The fog + the city = my ideal eerie/dreamy setting. - Transportation – This includes public transportation as well as flights. It’s immensely cheaper to travel throughout Europe than the states. And with my spontaneous, never-able-to-sit-still traits, I will miss that dearly. And for the public transportation, that’s just something America doesn’t have down yet. London’s bus and tube system is user-friendly and efficient, which are two things I find lacking in the American public transportation.
Oxford Circus station. - Options – There’s always something going on in London if you look hard enough, and sometimes you don’t have to look hard at all. The variety of activities is also quite expansive. It’s such a diverse city, which makes it incomparable. I doubt the possibility of seeing it all in one lifetime.

- The food -As I talked about in one of my previous blog posts, there’s never an issue with finding a vegan option. In my experience, it’s more effortless being a vegan in the United Kingdom as opposed to the United States.

Vegan English breakfast. - The city in general – I’ve said it…I don’t even know how many times, but I’ll say it once more: I love cities. I love the skylines. I love finding views from different angles. I love the way they look in the morning and I love the way they look at night. I’ll miss London as my backdrop.
