How Study Abroad Changed Me For the Better

Through this two week study abroad program, I was able to grow personally and professionally. I got to explore a new culture and everything felt so surreal for me. Looking back, I had no regrets choosing to do a study abroad at Japan for two weeks. After returning from my study abroad trip, I learned to be more confident with myself and my decisions and learned to effectively communicate with others. One obstacle I think every tourists experience in Japan is the language. I had already learned the basics of the Japanese language and still had trouble communicating with the Japanese people. However, I was really grateful at how patient they were with me to try to communicate with me. On one of the stops inside the International Business seminar program, we went to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and learned about the atomic bombing at Hiroshima, Japan. We got to listen to one of the victim’s story and learn how if everyone learned to be compassionate with each other, there would not have to be war and everyone could live in peace because at the end of the day, we are more alike than we are different.
