WASHINGTON, D.C., 21 November 2025 – The Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) continues to increase access to international education with the award of more than $343,500 in scholarships and funding to 74 undergraduates for study abroad in Spring 2026. With this new cohort, a total of 1,443 students with financial need have benefited from more than $4.9 million in scholarships granted since FEA’s inception in 2010.
Selected from a pool of over 1,600 applicants, the new scholars will attend programs taking place in more than 30 countries across six continents between December 2025 and May 2026. The finalists were selected via a rigorous review and scoring process conducted by 92 volunteer reviewers and FEA staff.
“FEA’s scholarships, and our very existence, are proof that people and organizations feel international education is worth their investment, and we are so grateful for their financial and volunteer contributions that make this work possible,” said FEA Executive Director Angela Schaffer. “We want students who don’t see always see themselves represented in study abroad or in higher education to know that FEA, and our partners and donors, are here to support them. That we believe in them. We recognize the increasingly critical role philanthropy will play ensuring access to international opportunities in the coming years.”
“Study abroad changed my life, and supporting FEA Scholars has been one of the great joys of my Board service,” said Dr. Amar Rewari, Chair of the FEA Board of Trustees. “As I finish my term as Chair, I’m inspired by this next cohort—students who will grow through their global experiences and lift up their communities. It’s been an honor to be part of their journeys.”
FEA awards many different types of scholarships, including named and dedicated scholarships that are funded by specific donors, and Access Partner Scholarships. FEA Access Partners engage in the mission of the organization through annual support towards co-branded and allocated scholarships, and they participate on the Access Advisory Board, providing critical leadership-level feedback to FEA.
