Applicants interested in SEA’s programming who meet FEA’s eligibility requirements could receive up to $5,000 for summer programs, and up to $10,000 for semester programs.
Applicants who are awarded SEA Access Partner Scholarships will receive their scholarship directly from the Sea Education Association.
Sea Education Association (SEA) is an internationally recognized leader in ocean education. For more than 50 years, SEA has educated students about the world’s oceans through its Boston University accredited study abroad program. SEA is based on Cape Cod in the oceanographic research community of Woods Hole, Massachusetts and has two research vessels: the SSV Corwith Cramer, sailing in the Atlantic Ocean, and the SSV Robert C. Seamans, sailing in the Pacific.
The SEA experience expands imaginations as to what is possible – in college, career, and life. In six-week shore components followed by six weeks at sea, SEA students learn by doing as they conduct ocean research and sail a tall ship. They challenge themselves, discover new strengths and interests, and gain new skills and knowledge through a range of programs that explore pressing issues affecting the ocean environment – issues like climate change, plastics pollution, environmental justice, and coral reef conservation.

Additional Opportunities with SEA
Faculty encourage SEA students to contribute new aspects to ongoing research or to develop their own avenues of inquiry, as they guide students through the entire research process from defining the scope of study to final presentation of their work. Many students continue their research upon return to their home institutions, using the field data collected at SEA as the basis of capstone or senior thesis projects. Others remain involved in the research they contributed to during their time at SEA and are subsequently invited as co-authors on presentations and publications resulting from their work.
