While in Paris, I attended my first European soccer club match. French Ligue 1 is the name of the top division in French soccer league. One of the top teams in Ligue 1 is Paris Saint-Germain, most commonly known as PSG, which was founded in 1970 after the merger of Paris Football Club and Stade Saint-Germain. In 1972, PSG moved into their home stadium Parc des Princes, which is located in the 16th arrondissement. In 2011, PSG was bought by Qatar Sports Investments. Today, PSG is home to world-class footballers like Lionel Messi, Neymar Junior, and Kylian Mbappe. The slogan “ICI C’EST PARIS,” which means “Here is Paris,” or “This is Paris,” is often chanted by PSG fans at home games. I think going to a European soccer match is a fun and exciting experience that allows you to participate in a country’s culture.
