Woke up feeling extremely blessed this morning. So blessed to be able to study abroad in an amazing city for an entire year. So blessed to have met such lovely and brilliantly hilarious people (Daniela, if youโre reading this- youโre one of them). So blessed to have such amazing and supportive parents. So blessed to have this free day off to catch up on homework, life, and be with myself.
Itโs just one of those days where Iโm extra appreciative of everything and everyone. Happiness really comes from within- to me, I think itโs how you look at life, how you handle stressful situations, and how kind you are to people.
As you can probably tell, this week has been really nice and also really busy! I went to class, work, and spent time with friends. On Thursday, I invited some girl friends over for Pad See Ew (a Thai dish)! It was surprisingly cheap to make and came out decently delicious. It was a fun night filled with halloween candies, sparkling wine, cookies, and cheap dinner. It was surprisingly cheap to make and came out decently delicious. It was a fun night filled with halloween candies, sparkling wine, cookies, and cheap dinner. Afterwards, we played cards and sang our hearts out to Hannah Montana plus many more throwback songs. I know I mentioned this a few times before but dinner dates are now my absolute favorite thing to do with friends. Itโs such an easy (and delicious) way to spend time with people.
On a side note, without even realizing it, Denmark has definitely brought me closer to my Thai cultural heritage! I would never ever thought of cooking Pad See Ew or Pad Thai back at home in California- mainly because it’s affordable.
On Saturday (yesterday), we went to a halloween party at a student house located in the city center. It was a blast! I dressed up as a deer and a few of my friends as some dead beings. Apparently, Danes donโt really dress up for Halloween (from what Iโve noticed, at least). Iโve seen a few kids in their costumes but havenโt seen much of young adults. Oh! Before I forget, feel free to check out an Instagram account I made especially for my year abroad: taylors_exchangeyear, I post quite often on there- mostly to update my mother and a few friends back at home. Anyways, Saturday day night went well. We danced the night away and had some shawarma after before we all departed (classic, I know). I’ll upload a picture of all of us in our costumes once my friend sends me them! ;) But in the mean time, here is a photo of me and my deer makeup look.
Sunday morning I woke up and FaceTimed my mom. My god, I miss this woman! I love how independent and dependent we are of each other. Iโm not sure if that makes much sense but I love how I donโt have to video call her everyday (though I bet she prefers) or text her 24/7 of my whereabouts. I love how we miss each other a lot but itโs not necessary for us to see each other right awayโฆnot sure if that makes sense.
Anyways, I will talk to/update you more on my adventures in Denmark next week ;)
Have a nice day and thank you for reading!
Hej-hej.
