This past weekend I had the opportunity to travel to Lisbon and Costa Da Caparica in Portugal. I stayed a total of 3 days and although I feel like I wanted to see much more, I am happy I had the chance to get a small glance at Portugal’s culture.
I got together with other exchange students from my university and surprisingly, planning the trip was not very difficult. Although we had different schedules we managed to all leave in groups of four. Some of us arrived earlier than others but no one had to travel alone.
I arrived on Friday morning, since I do not have any classes that day. The trip was overnight and although I was able to sleep during the bus ride, I was exhausted. After taking a short nap I gained my energy back and I was ready to head to the beach. We stayed in Costa Da Caparica and we would take taxis to the city of Lisbon. Although I have not visited many beaches, I can say Costa Da Caparica is incredibly beautiful.
I fell in love with Lisbon, I loved everything about it. The buildings, the streets, the colorful trams, and the people. At times when I would get really tired of walking around with my huge backpack, I would look at the view and I was convinced it was worth it.
We left Lisbon on Sunday night and arrived to Madrid at around 7 am. It was a little bit stressful because once in Madrid we had to take a metro to the bus station to take the bus to Segovia. Turns out the metro is really, really crowded during the weekdays since people have to get to work and school. It was definitely a challenge and it took longer than we expected but we eventually made it back to Segovia, some of us just in time to make it to class.
When I got to Segovia I had a strange feeling, the feeling of being home.
