This is my last day in the United States, and the main feeling that is coming up is nervousness, but also excitement. If I were to tell past Jaeqwon that he’d be traveling across the globe to work on his Spanish and explore a new culture, I would think that he’s lying.

But now, as I sit in this airport and wonder about what the future holds, I want to quote a fortune cookie that I had gotten while I was out with my family last Friday.

You will be able to escape the stresses of everyday life during your travels”

Whether it was pure coincidence or not, this little quote from a delicious cookie put me at ease. It reminded me that while I will be focused on my internship and my class courses, I’m also going to be in Spain to have fun and practice speaking a language that should come like second nature to me.

All the positive feelings outweigh all the nerves that I’ll feel throughout this trip. But most importantly, I’m going to take the advice that all my friends and family have been telling me since they found out: to enjoy myself, take lots of pictures and videos, and live in the moment.

Within the blink of an eye, I’ll be across the country overnight, and for once, I don’t feel so stressed and nervous.
