Hi, this is my first blog since coming to Italy, and I am writing about the first and second week of classes! Starting off with my 8-hour traveling day, I had a lot of time to reflect on how lucky I am to experience an opportunity like this. When given time to think, it wasn’t hard to see the good in life! Then I arrived in Florence with my two friends that I traveled with, and we met up with the other four people who would be a part of this program. Yep, you heard it correctly, this year there are only 7 people in the program that I am attending. After talking to everyone for a while, I soon realized we were going to have a lot of fun! Our guardian angel Azzura soon picked us up so we could start our drive to Arezzo which is only an hour away from Florence. Pulling up to the villa was a memory that I will never forget. I live in a villa on a hill in the countryside of Tuscany, Italy, so magical. It is a beautiful yellow color so you can’t really miss it and it is a 25-30 minute walk to the town. These two weeks we started classes and got right into things we met all of our wonderful staff and got a tour of the villa where we have all of our classes and where we sleep and eat. The first Friday of classes was a treat for sure. We went to Florence and the views from the train ride were such a tease for what was in store. The city of Florence is filled with so much culture, art, and yummy food. I’ve always heard about how beautiful the Italian art museums are, and they are not joking! These 2 weeks have been filled with new connections, exploring the space around us, pushing our bodies, and learning this beautiful language. I can’t wait to keep you all updated on what is to come!
