Taiwan is a Highway

Salutations FEA,

I can’t believe spring break has come and gone so fast! :( But it’s been exciting. Let me fill you in on the places that I’ve been.

Kending:

Kending is in the south of Taiwan. I love it!!!!!!!! I went there around the same time that I was in Kaohsiung. I really love that area. It’s a beautiful beach area. All the tourists go there, but when I went, I felt like I was back at home. Being in the south fills my soul. I think no matter where I am, if I live in the south, I will be happier.

I truly loved being there. Even though it was winter, it was still so warm and beautiful. Only the water was cold. It was also the first time that I went to the hot springs. Just amazing.

Lately, I went to Chiayi. It may be my favorite city in Taiwan. I went to Mei Shan Mountain. So beautiful. I was with my friend, and we found a mini waterfall/pond. So gorgeous.

To be honest, there is nothing really special about that city, but it’s beautiful. Also, the people are really nice. Being there makes me feel at home. I think there’s nothing better than feeling at home in a foreign country.

ไฝ ๅฅฝใ€‚ๆˆ‘ๅซๅธไธฝใ€‚ๆˆ‘ๅพˆ้ซ˜ๅ…ด่ฎค่ฏ†ไฝ ๏ผ Salutations! My name is Juli Smith. I am currently a second year student at Loyola University New Orleans double majoring in International Business and Accounting and minoring in Asian Studies. I was born and raised in the Big Easy (New Orleans), and I like to think it shows wherever I go. I'll be studying abroad for the academic year in Taichung City, Taiwan, and I couldn't be more ecstatic! I have been studying Mandarin Chinese for 5 years now, and I'm ready to put my skills to the test and bring them up to the next level. I also hope to do work with the Taiwanese Sign Language community. I use my hands a lot when I speak, but now I want to use them with a purpose. I'm so grateful for this opportunity to go abroad. Being a first generation student has definitely brought its challenges with figuring out the college process, but I have made it this far, and I am determined to make it to the end. Going abroad is my next step, and I am ready. Taichung, here I come!
