Sunsets and Art

Salaam everyone! Today officially marks a month since coming to Cairo, Egypt safely..and time flew by! I can say that after four weeks here, I am able to adjust and find my way about campus rather well. The thought of traveling abroad for a semester consumed me, and I thought to myself: Will I make friends? How will I get to the supermarkets? How different will I look from everyone else? Will I get homesick? Will I get lost on campus? But the reassurance from AUCians, friends and family got me through those feelings the first few weeks of being here. Then there was orientation, and this was really helpful because I got to tour the campus, locate my classes and learn about the great opportunities AUC (The American University in Cairo). And I look forward to getting involved with extracurricular activities and volunteering soon.

Upon being in Cairo, I have had the time of my life meeting new people and making friends from students from Greece, Germany, South Africa, London, France and Japan. The relationships and connections that I have made in such a short period of time serve as a constant reminder that I am exactly where I need to be, and I believe that is the finest aspect of studying abroad here so far.
