A summer with Big Ben – pre-departure blog post

Published:

Finally, I am able to fully be excited about my trip abroad to London because school is officially out for the summer! I am more than excited, actually. This is a great start to an amazing career in healthcare.                                   Introductions are always a good place to start so I suppose I should begin with mine.

My name is Aariyana (Ari for short) and I grew up in a small town located in Southern Virginia. Because of lack of resources, not many people who live in the area get to experience anything quite this big. Many of them never even made it to college so when news broke that I was going to get the opportunity to travel outside of the U.S.A., it was MAJOR. There’s so many opportunities that I will get and a ton of experience I’ll have under my belt when I come back to school (of course 6 extra credits towards my major as well!)

As I continue to prepare for my trip I have high hopes and faith that it’ll be exactly how I pictured it, if not better. There are so many people looking up to me from not only my community but my university as well and I can’t wait to make them proud.
