<i>"Hello" in your host country's language:</i> Hola <i>Home Institution (your U.S. University/College):</i> Augsburg University <i>Expected graduation year:</i> 2023 <i>Destination city & country:</i> Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico <i>Program provider:</i> Augsburg University Center for Global Education and Experience <i>Major/minor:</i> Biopsychology / Sociology <i>Demographics:</i> Hispanic/Latinx, Immigrant, First-Generation College Student <i>Future career aspirations:</i> I want to pursue a Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies once I finish my Bachelor's degree. I wish to properly communicate with my patients as a future Physician Assistant and offer them the utmost care possible. <i>Top 3 goals for your time abroad:</i> During my time in Mexico, I hope to gain an understanding of the culture and intricacies in different forms of healing and healthcare. I also want to improve my cultural competency so that I may apply it to my future goal of becoming a Physician Assistant. Finally, I'd like to connect with others who share my enthusiasm for healthcare.

I started taking a Medical Spanish term course as I was starting my second week in Mexico, and I’ve been learning a lot. Finding time to travel to and tour Mexico in addition to my coursework has been a challenge, but I’m getting used to it. I am picking up a lot of new vocabulary, which will help me better prepare for my medical observation next month. I also went out with other classmates and got to know them better! I was a little nervous about this trip because I didn’t know anyone, but I got along with my classmates, explored Mexico, and studied in the city’s beautiful cafรฉs this week!
