Skydiving
Right after my trip to Kruger/Jo-Burg, literally the day after I landed, I went SKYDIVING. You read that rightโฆskydiving. This was something that was on my bucket list, so Iโm really glad I went!
Initially I was a bit fearful. I mean, who wouldnโt be? Iโm jumping out of a plane thatโs 9,000 feet in the air with someone I donโt know. Yet I realized that fear was literally the only thing that was standing in my way. I also knew that I would have deeply regretted not going skydiving in Cape Town, South Africa. I instead would have had to go in California, Florida, or somewhere in Maryland if I wanted to go while I was in college. To me, going skydiving abroad would have been better than going back in the States.
I went skydiving with Skydive Cape Town, and I had a very positive experience with them. My skydiving session was at 9:30am, so my ride picked me up at 8:30am promptly (note: I had to pay extra for the ride, but it was worth it because not only was it cheaper than Ubering back and forth, but they picked me up, waited for me, and then dropped me off which I really appreciated). When I arrived, we didnโt start for about another half hour due to the fact that the other party that was supposed to be going skydiving at 9:30am was running late. So around 10am, we went on the planeโฆflew in the air for about 20 minutesโฆand then it was go time.
I canโt really put into words how the experience was. The first couple of seconds I was scared for my life! But honestly, right after about five secondsโฆI was having fun! I was in the air for around 10 minutes, and the view was amazing! It was surreal of course. The landing is something I do not want to talk about because it was a fail, haha (letโs just say I landed the wrong way and almost broke my ankles). Overall, in combination with the satisfactory customer service and my experienced instructor, skydiving was a huge success and SO. MUCH. FUN.
Zip Lining
The next day, and couple of my friends and I went zip lining. Going zip lining after skydiving was a breeze in comparison to skydiving. It was fun, but it wasnโt scary (which is a good thing)!
We went zip lining with a company called SA Forest Adventures, and the customer service was outstanding. Plus, our instructors were awesome! We went zip lining for an hour and a half, and we went on seven zip lines. The time moved by really fast, but overall, this activity was super fun!
ATV Riding
Lastly, I went ATV riding. This was a very chill experience! A group of us went to the Atlantis Sand Dunes (about an hour away from our dorm) to go on an hour and a half ride on quadbikes. The instructor, who is with Headout Adventures, was pretty good, too. Thereโs not much to say about this โ what I will say is that this experience reminded me of Super Mario Cart (not sure if this is still a thing nowadays. Iโm discovering that Iโm getting a little old!)
