My Trip to Guatapé

Published:

On July 11, 2019 – I had a trip to the town of Guatapé, which about a 2 hour drive from Medellín. The other interns in the Intern Group were telling me about a huge rock with stairs.

At first, I brush it off and didn’t believe it was that big but when we arrive at the site, I definitely took their word for it.

El Peñón de Guatapé

Surprisingly, it only took 20 minutes to get to the top but it was worth it because the view is one of a kind.

After doing the famous climb, we went to the town and saw what I believe to be the most traditional and decorated place in Colombia

One of the most walked path in this town

Colombians here are very humble and work hard to provide for their families

He passed by and waved

The biggest church in the town is called Parroquia Nuestra Señora Del Carmen Guatape and the church is breathtaking

I would definitely recommend to visit this town because it’s heartwarming to see a different way of life that is not always about status and wealth. People of Guatapé cares for each other, even if they are not family.

Kid thinking he’s James Rodríguez

For my next trip, I will be visiting Comuna 13, a notorious neighborhood in Colombia
