Pronouns: She/her Home Institution: Western Kentucky University Expected Graduation: 2024 Major / Minor: Social Work / Family Home Visiting Study Abroad Location: Tanzania "Hello" in your host country's language: Hujambo Program Provider: KIIS Identity: African American/Black, First-Generation College Student Future Career Goals: My future career goals include advocacy through social work. I want to advocate for all mankind, but I specifically want to work with troubled youth/ juveniles. I believe focusing on the youth is focusing on the future. I want to illustrate to troubled youth/juveniles that the route they are currently going on doesnโ€™t have to be the one they take; there is always a choice to grow from a situation. In the future, I also want to obtain my Masterโ€™s degree and Ph.D. in social work and soon after that start a non-profit organization for youth affected by parental incarceration. Top 3 Goals for your time abroad: My top 3 goals for my time abroad include gaining practical hands-on experience that I wouldn't acquire at my university, obtaining a deeper understanding and appreciation for a culture other than my own, and exemplifying to other minority students that scholastic opportunities such as studying abroad are attainable.
