8/8/2018 The Thirteenth Emotion: Love

Love, โ€œto like another person a lot, or to hold strong feelings of liking a friend or familyโ€.

Love is simply the care and devotion you feel for the precious ones around you. Besides happiness, this is the most important positive emotion, perhaps in all of life. Itโ€™s so important that itโ€™s what people talk about all the time, both in its positive and negatives. With love, you end up seeing thing that donโ€™t even exist. Love is important in vocables (spoken) and silence, because love is not always communicated through words, but sometimes in actions or feelings. Love is good. It changes people, for better or for worse, for me, I see it as a chance to change myself. The best kind of love helps us grow up. When I speak of love, I speak about the relationships we have with other people. Friends, lover, family, itโ€™s all important. Today I wonโ€™t insert my friendโ€™s quote, today I will give you my life philosophy, and that is: โ€œLove is a constant choiceโ€.

What do I mean by that? There are many examples, but Iโ€™ve been showing it this whole time. To care about someone, to worry about someone, to wanting to make sure that theyโ€™re happy. This means that youโ€™ll treat them with genuine kindness regardless of time, occasion, and place. In my case, I always choose to love, because Iโ€™m thankful for the people around me, and because I simply want to, Iโ€™m just a loving person. Think about this, โ€œif love is just a word, then why does it hurt so much if it isnโ€™t there?โ€ Even though love is complicated, it’s without a doubt one of the most important emotions in this world. How do you love? To love others, you must begin with loving yourself, thatโ€™s important. Donโ€™t mistake love for romance, they are two different things.

8/10/2018 Conclusion: Memories

Memory, โ€œthe ability to remember information, experiences, and people.โ€
Memories, โ€œsomething that you remember from the past.โ€

Much more than just notebook, this book is a representation of my memories. Everything that Iโ€™ve written in this notebook are things that Iโ€™ve heard, spoken, and learned throughout my life. This letter is the accumulation of my experiences thus far, and Iโ€™m happy that I can share it with you. What is my message? My life. My life is my message. Who am I sharing it with? You.

In the beginning, this notebook was merely an idea. I wanted to give a gift that could be with you always, a gift that you could always come back to, and something that wasnโ€™t of monetary value.

In life, whenever you felt a positive emotion, I wanted to give you my advice and thoughts. Whenever you felt a negative emotion, I wanted to give you comfort and encouragement. By the time you read this, Iโ€™m already gone. I want to tell you that I have no regrets leaving Taiwan, I departed with only good memories in my heart. Memory, itโ€™s like painting an artwork, even if you mix the artwork with a new color, the old colors remains, forever. Your memories are a part of what makes you who are you, itโ€™s your story. The happy memories, even the sad, painful, and embarrassing ones, should not ever be forgotten. To conclude this long letter, thank you for all of your time, truly, I wonโ€™t ever forget you! Iโ€™ll always be there for you, to support you through good times and bad. This is not a goodbye, but a see you later, during the winter perhaps. Wherever your future takes you, I hope that youโ€™ll always be smiling as bright as the warm sun.

Samara: โ€œIn life, whenever we encounter other people, even though our experiences may be the same, people will always remember things differently and different aspects will come into focus. Look at memories from a positive angle, not the negative. Sometimes, you may not exactly remember how it happened; you look for justification and reassurance; regardless, donโ€™t forget the purity of your memories, theyโ€™re precious simply because theyโ€™re yours and no one elseโ€™s.For the sake of this letter length, I choose to not write the โ€œExtraโ€ content on here. All of that information, you will find in the notebook, I hope my handwriting isnโ€™t too awful on there…

Closer Quote from me and Jack:

โ€œYou are a child of the universe,
No less than the trees and the stars,
You have a right to be there.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
No doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.โ€

-Max Ehrmann, Desiderata: A poem for a way of life.

Thank you for reading the entirety of my project! I hope that you like it, and I hope that it wasn’t as cheesy as I thought it would turn out.
