Finally got my airplane ticket! I’ve known that I was going for months but actually having my airplane tickets cementes the notion. It is a bit hard to say, goodbye to my friends at GSU and my family. Even though I know that I’ll make new friends in Japan, part of me still wishes that I could take them with me. I will miss my family most of all but, Thank God for Skype and Facebook!

Classes have already started here and its rather odd not to be starting back as well. I know that I’ll feel homesick once I get to Japan, honestly I will most likely be rowing a canoe through my tears at the airport. For right now I’m just too excited and anxious to feel nervous about going to a foreign country.

Tiffany Simmons

Hi! My name is Tiffany Simmons. Iโ€™m the youngest child from a single parent home with one older sister. I am an eighteen-year old African-American, and I study Art at Georgia Southern University (GSU). My interests are drawing, painting, reading both modern and classical romances, and learning about Japanese culture and language. I plan to spend a year studying abroad at the Nagoya University of Foreign Studies (NUFS) in Japan through their exchange program with GSU. This time abroad is designed to deepen my knowledge of the Japanese language and culture while preparing me for my future academic and professional goals.
