Viewing the Lantau Island on our way up to the Big Buddha!

Hong Kong is composed of a handful of islands that are most certainly worth exploring. Among the larger islands Lamma Island and Cheung Chau, Tai O is adjacent to the Tian Tan Buddha in Lantau Island. Tai O is home to small shrimp paste shops, tea and dried seafood vendors and seafood restaurants. People can take the bus from the Buddha to Tai O Island.
There are various methods to explore Lantau Island. Hikers may walk the trail up to the Buddha. Second, those who want a bird’s eye view of the island may opt for the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car route. There are two types of cabins: one with a crystal glass floor and regular cabin. The cable car with glass floor costs a bit more (~$55HKD), but I highly recommend it for an unique experience. Lately, there is a NLB Bus #23 from Tung Chung up to the village as well.

After arriving to top, there is a line of souvenir shops selling small buddha dolls, sculptures and fans. Walk further down and you will see a memorial arch that leads to the Big Buddha. There were about 100 steps, and there weren’t very many other things to see at the top. I highly recommend visiting the Wisdom Path though.
Wisdom Path is located along the hiking path with many scriptures assembled in an infinity sign or figure eight. The scriptures are sculpted with Confuscian phrases by a famous Chinese calligrapher.
