Hi everyone! Iโ€™m excited to share some of the highlights of this past week in terms of my academic work as well as my free-time day trips.

Iโ€™ll start by describing the progress I have made in my classes so far this semester. For my โ€œSeeing Londonโ€™s Architectureโ€ course, Iโ€™ve grown increasingly proficient in my weekly sketches and have improved my design skills since the first week of September. Learning the architectural vocabulary each week has not only helped me prepare for my midterm this Thursday, but has also allowed me to develop an appreciation for Londonโ€™s elaborate building schemes and the rich history behind the purpose for specific architectural features. From exploring St. Pancras International train station to the British Museum and the strictly proportioned Bedford Square terrace houses, Iโ€™ve come to understand various historical events (i.e, World War II, the Great Fire of London in 1666) and their influence on the architectural layout of the sites we visit as a class.

As for my academic internship, Iโ€™m happy to share that Iโ€™m nearly done with the animation video that Iโ€™ve been tasked to produce for the Kingโ€™s Health Partners Annual Conference on October 27. Last week I finished the design of the animation slides on Canva Pro, and this week I simply have to add the voiceover that has been created by one of my colleagues. Working on this animation video has been a truly rewarding experience, since Iโ€™ve developed many graphic design skills. It is so satisfying to watch the transitions from one idea to the next take place on a screen and to choose from a vast array of colorful graphics. Iโ€™ve attached a picture of one of the slides below so you can see what Iโ€™ve been working on!

Lastly, I made myself take a break from studying and my internship this weekend when I joined an event hosted by NYU London where we got to take a tour of Soho and enjoy some free crepes at a local cafe called Crepes, Coffee & Chai. We were given ยฃ20 to spend each, so my friends and I took advantage of this generous offer and ordered a veggie galette and a crepe with bananas, strawberries and Nutella! After enjoying the delicious meal together, my friends and I departed from the group and took the tube to Notting Hill. We walked down the famous Portobello Road to shop at the quaint vintage shops and outdoor boutiques. I also made sure to snap pictures of the gorgeous, pastel-colored houses (pictured below!).

Thanks, everyone, for taking the time to read my sixth blog post! This week I have a lot more fun plans coming up, including seeing the musical Hamilton with my friends on Thursday and going on the NYU London day trip to Canterbury on Friday. I canโ€™t wait to share my experience with you all next week :)
