School….??
Classes have started to pick up and professors are already having us take quizzes. Iโm taking 5 classes this semester, and my largest class has about 25 students. Coming from the University of Minnesota, Iโm not use to having such small classes. All my professors already know my name (this wouldnโt be surprising to most people but itโs different for me!) Back home I would have to go to office hours for my professor to know who I am. My favorite classes are cell biology and marketing. My marketing professor is from New Zealand and is very interactive! 50 minutes goes by super fast in that class. This semester is already going by faster than I would like, but Iโm excited to see how my professors continue their classes.
In other news, I spent last weekend in Dubai with other exchange students. We spent most of our day on the beach on Friday. I even got to pet a camel! The weather was absolutely perfect. We have to soak up this weather right now before it reaches above 90 degree weather.
A few days ago we went down to the soccer field and played some pickup soccer with a few other girls(Ameerah, Majdal, Carrie, & Gaby). They are all exchange students from the states. It was nice getting out at night and getting in some exercise. Itโs a bit difficult to leave campus sometimes, because we are on the outskirts of Sharjah in University City. Weโve been taking cabs everyone which adds up. Iโve taken more cabs in the past 2 weeks than I have in my entire life summed up.
This weekend I was invited to a Somali wedding by 2 Somali students that attend AUS. Iโm excited to see how Somali weddings are held here and compared that to the back home. Iโm sure many of the things will be similar! Somaliโs everywhere hold the same culture at the end of the day. Ready for the weekend and to get some studying done. Until next time!
