Hey guys! It’s me again. This past week I took advantage of my shortened class schedule and traveled to Budapest, Hungary after my Tuesday afternoon course. I’m fortunate enough to have a friend from UF who lives in Budapest so I was able to stay with her and have my own personal tour guide. Budapest is BEAUTIFUL, especially at night when the buildings are all lit up.
The first day we spent sightseeing. We started with the St. Stephens Basilica including going inside to admire the amazing architecture. Afterward we, of course, had to get some iconic rose ice cream cones before we went to Fisherman’s Bastion to get a gorgeous view of the entire city.
I truly couldn’t believe my eyes! The view was indescribable. We ended our day at the Buda Castle before heading back home where her mother cooked us a delicious Hungarian dinner.
On the second day, we started by going to the iconic Hero’s Square and taking a trip to the thermal bath. Even though we didn’t go inside the bath, it was still very cool to see the outside of it. We ended our day here by visiting the Hungarian Parliament Building where we also got to witness the guards change.
We spent the late afternoon and early evening relaxing and working on homework back at my friend’s house before we took the train back to the city to see the city at night. Not only could you see the building lights, but certain buildings were completely lit up such as the St. Stephens Basilica and Parliament Building to make them stand out. It was breathtaking.
I flew back to London on Friday night because on Saturday, my friends and I went to the Summertime Capital Ball. This is a huge music festival in London and I honestly have to see it was the best music festival I’ve been to! That is saying a lot since I’ve also been to Lollapalooza in Chicago the past two summers as well.
My friends and I had “pitch standing” seats meaning we were standing a little further back from the main stage, but we got there early enough where we were at the very front of the “pitch standing” section. The advantage was there was a center stage leading to another small stage that as directly next to us.
It was incredible because the artists would walk down the stages and be right there, we felt like we could touch them! Some of the main artists there were Jonas Brothers, Halsey, 5 Seconds of Summer, Maroon 5, Calvin Harris, Ellie Goulding, Rita Ora, and more! It was so cool because I knew every song that was played so I could sing along with the artists!
My feat KILLED after standing and dancing on them all day but it was well worth the experience.
Thanks for following along with my study abroad adventure so far! I’ll be in touch at the end of this week!
