As a leader in Cape Town, I value and prioritize certain leadership qualities that contribute to the betterment of the community. I strongly believe in social responsibility and actively work to address the diverse socioeconomic challenges in Cape Town. Making a positive impact and contributing to the well-being of the community are essential aspects of my leadership. Collaboration and community engagement are crucial to effective leadership, and our cohort works closely with the local community. I actively seek opportunities to collaborate with the local leadership, building partnerships and fostering dialogue. By involving the community in decision-making processes, I ensure that their voices are heard, and their needs are addressed. I recognize the natural beauty and environmental resources that Cape Town possesses. I prioritize environmental sustainability, conservation, and responsible development, taking action to address climate change, protect natural habitats, and promote eco-friendly practices. Inclusivity and diversity are key values that I embrace. I create inclusive spaces where everyone feels welcome and respected, regardless of their background. By valuing and celebrating different cultures, I foster an environment where diversity can thrive. I appreciate the reputation of Cape Town as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship. I encourage creativity, support startups, and small businesses, and create an environment that fosters innovation. Preserving the rich cultural heritage of Cape Town is another priority for me. I value and promote the preservation of local culture, traditions, and artistic expressions. By honoring and preserving the unique identity of the city, I contribute to its continued vibrancy. These leadership values guide my actions and decisions as I strive to make a positive impact in Cape Town. I understand that different individuals and communities may prioritize additional leadership qualities, but these are the core values that shape my leadership approach. Iโ€™m very thankful to be learning and engaging in all the avenues Iโ€™m able to while in South Africa, and Iโ€™m looking forward to incorporating the values learned when I return to my home community.
