Blog 3: High Table Dinner – A HKU tradition

The High Table Dinner at HKU is a tradition that embodies the university’s dedication to fostering a sense of community within its student dorms, promoting academic excellence, and enhancing cultural enrichment among students and faculty. Held periodically throughout the academic year, these dinners typically take place in grand dining halls. Each dorm at HKU has its own venue and dress code for the High Table Dinner. The green suit we are wearing in this picture is called the M coat, representing Morrison Hall, the name of our dorm. Each High Table Dinner begins with a speech by the warden, reflecting on our achievements over the year, followed by a time to enjoy the meal. We have three High Table Dinners each semester, with the final one celebrating the graduation of seniors. I have enjoyed every High Table Dinner as it provides a wonderful opportunity to catch up with friends.
