It’s currently been two weeks since we arrived in Barcelona, Spain, and to say it’s been an adjustment is an understatement. On the flight here, not only was it my first international flight, but it was also the first flight without my mom, so I was feeling all the emotions. Not only that, I was nervous and stressed out trying to figure out airports and connecting flights, which in the end turned out to be very simple and kind of helped me feel better. That Friday, we had orientation where I met my roommates again, and we ended up having lunch/late dinner, which really opened my eyes to seeing that these girls were the best choice and have only helped me open up as a person. Once we got settled into our apartment, the first night was hard and there were tears, but my roommates were comforting and allowed me to cry my eyes out. They were there to give me reassurance that we are going to have fun and if I needed it, they would pick me up if I was down. I thought living with four other girls would be hectic, but we have figured out how to live with each other, be safe, and have fun. Weโ€™ve been out, weโ€™ve been to bars, we’ve had our family dinners as well as movie nights and shopping sprees, and little one-on-one dates exploring to get to know each other. But to say the least, within the first two weeks, it has been nothing but positivity since being here. They’ve made me a better person and also remind me of my family, who I miss so much. But having my group of girls has made this experience even better.
