A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity occurred during my time abroad. I was able to witness the coronation of King Charles III! My friends and I were dedicated to finding a spot along the mall and viewing the procession from Westminster Abbey to Buckingham Palace. What an experience!

Although we had to wake up incredibly early, it was worth every second of it. We witnessed history! I find it so fascinating that here in the UK, they have a constitutional monarchy and a parliamentary democracy, whereas in the US we have a democratic republic with a president voted upon by the citizens. Having a royal family seems almost magical!

Seeing how seamlessly the coronation ran and what the titles mean was amazing. Truly surreal, I was just a few feet away from the golden encrusted carriage where King Charles III and Queen Camilla passed by! I will never forget this historic and truly amazing moment!
