EF: Education First

Since 1965, EF Education First has helped millions of people see new places, experience new cultures, and learn new things about the world and themselves. To create programs that continue to elevate and enrich the lessons taught in a classroom, EF Study Abroad partners with the world’s top colleges and universities to facilitate culturally immersive, international educational experiences that bring learning to life.

Applicants interested in EF Study Abroad’s programming who meet FEA’s eligibility requirements could receive up to $5,000 per semester (summer awards start at $1,250 for 3+ weeks abroad).

Applicants who are awarded EF Access Partner Scholarships will receive their scholarship disbursement directly from the Fund for Education Abroad. FEA sends disbursements directly to the student awarded, either by mailing a physical check or via direct deposit.

EF Study Abroad offers a variety of program types:

  • Faculty-Led Programs: Short-term study abroad programs created in partnership with colleges and universities and led by faculty at your institution.
  • Open-Enrollment Programs: Cohort-based semester study abroad experiences.
  • First-Year Programs: Built collaboratively with institutions, these immersive programs give students the opportunity to study abroad during their first semester of college.

Additional Opportunities with EF Study Abroad:

The Future Nobel Laureates Scholarship program is a high-impact student scholarship program created by EF Study Abroad and The Forum on Education Abroad in collaboration with the Nobel Prize Museum. Each year, ten students are selected to participate in an online project-based course in intercultural communication and travel to Sweden for a fully-funded capstone experience during Nobel Week. Led by distinguished international faculty leaders, scholarship recipients tackle global challenges through action learning projects and build community with an international cohort of participants.
