Future Career Goals:

One of my goals is to become a multifaceted Journalist who is able to tell artists’ or locals’ stories in an effective way for the media to understand and connect with them. Whether that be in English or Spanish, I believe that every story has a purpose and deserves to be shared, as that is the most effective way that humans connect with one another. That leads to one of my long-term future goals, which is to fluently speak Spanish. It is an ongoing journey that will help me, in the long run, connect with my people from Puerto Rico and allow me into spaces that speaking English will limit. I also want to be able to become an interviewer and discuss with musicians about music. This includes their journey as an artist and the difficulties and challenges of dealing with fame, fanbases, and the creation process, as I’ve learned that it’s always different and unique. Finally, I hope that someday to produce a blog or a podcast of my own inviting both the old and new generations of artists a spotlight so that audiences learn more about rising stars or famous artists, how they made certain projects, and how music and dealing with the media was back then.

Top 3 Goals for your time abroad:

One of my goals is to improve my Spanish-speaking skills so that I’m able to speak it when I return to my family fluently or at least somewhat fluently. Another one of my goals is to learn about the different musical influences that started in Spain and how I see that in modern music with Latin artists or artists around the world. Finally, I want to travel as much as possible to gain the full experience of Spain with its musical, religious, and linguistic influences in different parts of the country.

I would like to thank all the donors who made this opportunity possible for me to achieve. It’s not every day that someone such as myself has the chance to study in a different country, which is a dream that many think is not possible. This scholarship will aid me in my journey to travel abroad now and in the near future of my career. I thank everyone who considered my application and the journey that I will soon embark on, as none of this would be possible without the assistance of everyone involved in my application.
