Background: This evening celebration is the culmination of FEA Day, a day-long series of events in celebration of FEA’s first decade of impact.
Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) makes life-changing, international experiences accessible to all by supporting students of color, community college, and first-generation college students before, during, and after they participate in education abroad programs. Since 2010, FEA has awarded over $2 million to 614 students.
Michael Twitty is a food writer, independent scholar, culinary historian, and historical interpreter personally charged with preparing, preserving and promoting African American foodways and its parent traditions in Africa and her Diaspora and its legacy in the food culture of the American South. Michael is a Judaic studies teacher from the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area and his interests include food culture, food history, Jewish cultural issues, African American history and cultural politics. Afroculinaria will highlight and address food’s critical role in the development and definition of African American civilization and the politics of consumption and cultural ownership that surround it.
QueenEarth is a singer/songwriter and creative professional. In addition to performing her music, she has combined her passions to create courses, programs, and events that promote equity, inclusion, and arts education. She finds the greatest joy when she can bring her experience together for education, music, and creativity. QueenEarth travels with Queer Core: Behind the Music to share her songwriting stories for LGBT audiences and its allies. She also offers equity training, business consulting and online music instruction for creativity and guitar students.
