Khon Kaen Week 1

Published:

After a long 23-hour flight, I finally arrived in Bangkok, Thailand. I was warmly greeted by two amazing CIEE staff members: Ajaan Jen and P. Nui. The next morning, I met with the other students whom I would be spending the next 8 memorable weeks with!

From Bangkok we traveled to Khon Kaen via mini-van and stopped by a gas station for lunch. Our very first Thai meal was a bowl of thick noodles with thinly sliced steamed chicken. We continued our journey going north and arrived to Khon Kaen. After a scenic 7-hour road trip we arrived to Khon Kaen University at 3 P.M.

Welcome to Khon Kaen University.

As our van pulled into the CIEE building, we were so excited to meet all the staff and professors. The staff, students and I got to know a little more about each other through a mini-introduction. We also met up with our Thai roommate and they led us to our dormitory. After settling down, we had a welcoming ceremony and welcoming dinner party.
