Lindsay Lebel is from FEAโ€™s first cohort of scholarship recipients; she is received a $10,000 scholarship from FEA for a full year of study abroad in 2011-2012. Lindsay studied Arabic in Fez, Morocco for four months and examined the countryโ€™s system of traditional medicine. With FEAโ€™s help, her research on traditional/alternative medicine continued for an additional four months in India, Argentina, and South Africa. A complete immersion in global public health followed in her senior year at Tufts, when she had the opportunity to conduct an assessment of a community-based health insurance program in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

As a Community Health and Arabic double major at Tufts, she also served as an Arabic tutor and taught contraception workshops in Boston public high schools. After graduation, Lindsay worked for a small healthcare firm in Massachusetts. She has since bounced around between California, Maine, and Stockholm working at IBM Watson Health, where her days are centered around using technology to improve patient outcomes around the world.
