St. Peter Basilica

As a Catholic Christian, I always dream of taking a pilgrimage to Vatican City to learn about the church’s long history and, most importantly, to grow in my faith by appreciating its beauty. It is considered one of the most significant and impressive architectural masterpieces of the Renaissance era.

I spent a day visiting Vatican City during my weekend trip to Italy. The first site I saw was St. Peter Basilica, and it was overwhelmingly magnificent the moment I entered the building. Every aspect of the architecture, from ceiling to floor, is spectacular and unique, especially the high altar in the center. The interior of St. Peter’s Basilica is adorned with numerous works of art, including sculptures, mosaics, and paintings. The most famous is the Baldacchino, a massive bronze canopy created by Bernini.
