London Here I Come!

Read all the exciting things our scholars have been up to!

One of the places that I wanted to visit while in the UK was London. I had heard so much about it and I wanted to experience the city myself. As a result, I decided to travel with my flatmate, who also wanted to visit London.

We wanted to save as much money as possible and so we decided that we would walk everywhere. For some reason, it sort of escaped us that tourist attractions are not as close to each other as they might seem on Google Maps.

We took a train from the Stansted airport to the city center because of the airline we flew with. The ride to Liverpool Street was very scenic and it reminded me of the Scottish Highlands.

The first place we visited was St. Paul’s cathedral. It was such a lovely cathedral and since it was a Sunday, I wished that I could attend mass in it. Alas, that was impossible.

The next stop was The London Bridge. We crossed it in order to go to the London Eye and other attractions close by.

We passed by Downing Street and visited The Buckingham Palace.

By this time, I was regretting my choice of footwear but I soldiered on through the pain. Then, finally, it was time to eat dinner and return to Liverpool Street for the train to the airport. For dinner, we went to Wagamama. We had heard good things about it and it sure lived up to the hype.

A hot noodle dish was most welcomed after such a long and wet day. My trip to London was a memorable one. The city was fascinating because it contained both old and new buildings. London is one of the cities that I think I would like to visit again.
