FEA Alumni Council Member

Darius Carey was an FEA Scholar during the summer of 2014 where he received a generous award to study on an African Studies program at the University of Ghana in West Africa. After returning to his hometown of Denver, Colorado, Darius was able to earn a B.A. in Sociology and Africana Studies from the Metropolitan State University of Denver. Having made real connection with the country and culture of Ghana, Darius enrolled in the M.A. program in Pan African Studies at Syracuse University. Armed with the knowledge and experience made possible by FEA he was able to return to Ghana to complete a research project investigating identity development among the country’s Rastafarian population.

After such an impactful experience abroad, Darius is very interested in equipping the next generation with those same opportunities. Darius is now working in International Education as a Program Manager at Arcadia University, where he focuses on developing practices for working with underrepresented students throughout the admissions and advising process.
