Hello! My name is Onyemaechi “Echi” Anoruo. I was born and raised in California before coming to Temple University, where I am now double majoring in Biology and Spanish Language. As a premedical student, much of what I am involved in at Temple is science/research related. Currently I am working in a laboratory where our primary project is to characterize and investigate the action of a protein vital to RNA regulation in cells. Aside from this, I enjoy studying Spanish language, which I have been studying for the past 8 years with hopes to better communicate with a growing Spanish-speaking population in California.

This fall, I will spend the semester studying global health and communities with the International Honors program (IHP). We will travel to Switzerland, China, India, and South Africa examining the many determinants of health and health systems throughout this diverse range of countries. This program will allow me to deeper understand the multifaceted, reciprocal relationship between communities and the systems by which they receive health care and medical treatment. The scholarship from FEA will allow me to challenge my intellect, beliefs, and perceptions through this program and better help me understand this complex, essential component of our society.
