Originally from Istanbul, Michelle grew up in New Jersey and studied Political Science at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. As an undergraduate, she focused on politics of the MENA region, Turkish, and Russian language study. An avid student of all things Turkey, she completed a summer term abroad in Istanbul at Bogazici University in 2013.
Following graduation, she embarked on a Fulbright Scholarship in Turkey where she taught English at the university level, and traveled extensively in the country. Her experiences studying and working abroad have informed her belief in the mutual benefit of cultural exchange for both international and local communities, and the role international education can play in expanding one’s perspective.
Prior to joining FEA, Michelle was an intern in the U.S. House of Representatives, and worked at the Atlantic Council, a foreign policy think tank in Washington DC, where she helped organize events and conduct research pertaining to the Middle East and South Asia.
