Lucas Mackey is from FEAโ€™s 2015-2016 cohort of scholarship recipients; he received a $1,250 scholarship from FEA for a summer of study abroad. Lucas, although a Southern California native, moved around his entire life, living in places such as Colorado, Texas, Northern California, Arizona, Washington, and Illinois. Lucasโ€™ study abroad trip to China and Taiwan was the first experience he had outside of the United States, and it was extremely impactful to his life goals and career path. While in China and Taiwan, Lucas endeavored on an internship in global communications and logistics at a manufacturing firm as well as completed coursework in business Chinese language. Through this experience he became increasingly passionate about global business and sustainability.

Upon returning to studies at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Lucas completed his bachelorโ€™s degree in Aviation Business Administration, and joined the largest aerospace firm in the world, The Boeing Company, as a member in their business rotation program. Lucas is currently working in the Global Sales & Marketing team in Boeingโ€™s Defense & Space headquarters in Washington, DC.

FEA has had profound impacts on Lucasโ€™ life, providing him with a once-in-a-lifetime experience that now leads toward furthering his education through an MBA at Harvard Business School starting next year. Through his HBS MBA, Lucas hopes to affect change in the aviation industry through sustainability initiatives focused on greenhouse gas mitigation, a passion realized through his study abroad experience. A firm believer in international education, especially for fellow LGBT students, Lucas hopes to contribute the best to advancing FEAโ€™s mission of helping those in need.
