Flavia is a native of Freiburg, Germany and grew up interacting with numerous exchange students who routinely stayed within her family home. She often lived like an exchange student during frequent visits to France, England, Spain, Canada, and the U.S., where she stayed with locals during high school.
She finished her bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Social Sciences studying abroad in Switzerland at the University of Basel. Her interest in other cultures deepened while working as a student assistant to the curator for Australia and the Pacific Islands at the ethnographic museum in Basel.
As graduate student she balanced her cultural education and international experience by focusing on European Anthropology at the University of Freiburg with a focus on migration, intercultural communication and education. She currently works at the Language Centre of the University of Basel organizing language courses for students from abroad and local university students wishing to study abroad.
